When summer arrives, most people have a problem to add to our daily worries: mosquito bites .We hear them buzzing at night near our ears and in the morning we wake up covered with bites.Especially children and the elderly are very sensitive to their attack .We use everything we can find to combat them; Aerosols, creams that are applied to the skin, electrical appliances that literally fry them, citronella-scented bracelets, scares away mosquitoes...In recent years, a product that has triggered the controversy has been released; They are devices that, through a special sound they emit, protect us from bites, but do ultrasound mosquito repellents work?
Do mosquito repellents work? by ultrasound?
When in doubt about the effectiveness of these ultrasonic devices that we find in the various formats in the market, the Dr.Roger Gold of the A&M University of Texas (USA) ) started a scientific study .The experiment lasted 20 years , and it was changing the ultrasound emitters as new inventions went on the market .The conclusion of Doctor Gold and his team is that there was NOT a single r in all this time positive result .Other studies such as the one carried out at the University of Biology of Havana, reach the same results.
«The supposed repellent effects of different commercial acoustic devices they have not been demonstrated in field and laboratory research ».
The goodness of these devices and what drives many people to buy them is the fact that they have no chemicals .They can be portable and run on a battery, or larger and plugged into the electric current. They are made up of two pieces one is a electronic oscillator and the other a piezoelectric buzzer , both produce a sound virtually imperceptible to the human ear but must repel mosquitoes.

In theory and According to the manufacturers, these devices act on the female mosquito which is the one that bites. The female only mates once in her life, and when they go to bite it is because they have already done so , therefore run away from male mosquitoes .Ultrasonic buzzing, in theory, mimics the flutter sound of the male and female mosquito does not approach Dr.Gold states that the female mosquito has a weak hearing ability and does not perceive that sound practically and if she does it ends up getting used to it.

As you can see, these devices, according to the tests carried out, do not seem to have positive results although they are not harmful or dangerous in themselves.Do they work for you?
