To lose a few kilos, could tequila be the help you need? Let's see it!
Losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight is something that many people have difficulties with, one of them is the fact that alcohol consumption sabotages efforts of exercise and diet, but thanks to recent research at least one drink could have the opposite effect and instead, help achieve the desired goals.
The sugars found in the agave , the plant that produces tequila, could reduce blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes and help obese people lose weight, researchers say.
It is treated specifically of a type of natural sugar called agavines, which comes from the agave plant and is used in the elaboration of tequila.Mexican researchers from the National Polytechnic Institute have detected that these sugars (which are not the same as in the syrup of agave, more commonly known) are no digeri bles and do not raise blood sugar .

The specialists found that this particular type of sugar triggers a set of chemical activity and production of hormones that order the brain to stop eat. In addition to this incredible characteristic, experts say that the hormone also makes food last longer in the stomach, thus increasing the feeling of being satisfied.
In this new investigation, The team of scientists fed some mice on a standard diet and added agavins to some of their water. They discovered that mice that consumed agavins ate less in general and had lower blood glucose levels.
The effects were stronger than those of other artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and agave syrup.mice that consumed agavins also produced a hormone called GLP-1 that keeps the stomach full longer and produces insulin, another reason why it could be beneficial for people with diabetes and weight problems.
"This puts agavines in a tremendous position for consumption by obese and diabetic people. We believe that agavins have great potential as a light sweetener ", the scientists pointed out.
The research was presented at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in Dallas.
