We all know and admire that great science fiction genius called Isaac Asimov .Professor of biochemistry at the Boston University and prolific writer, he left us not only great literary titles, but new concepts in the field of technology and robotics that have served as inspiration for many realities of today.
Fifty years ago I wrote a curious article for «The New York Times », where he talked about the future of humanity, and more specifically of 2014 .Yes, the year we have recently started.Segun Asimov, if man managed to survive the Cold War , new challenges and new advances that would define our daily lives would open up.
Are you prepared to know those visions of the great Isaac Asimov for our present present?
1.Technology
According to Isaac Asimov, humanity would have a large assortment of a technological stops that would make your life easier and more practical.I was talking, for example, about household appliances capable of cooking for the whole family. At no time do I talk about robots, but about small appliances in our home capable of doing basic tasks for our well-being.Any similarity? It seems that to see the robots of the Yo Robot movie we will have to wait a little longer….

2.Communication
No phones. Not at all.The phone would go more there to make way for screens where people would face each other. These same screens would help us to work, read, view images and enjoy our leisure. And even more, this would be possible thanks to powerful synchronized satellites that would allow people to be constantly united....Do we need to give more clues? Recall that these formulations of Isaac Asimov were made 50 years ago.

3.The means of transport
Cars so fast that they no longer they had the need to touch the ground. There would be no roads, since cars would become flying. Okay. In this aspect the beloved genius and visionary made too much of the spark of the imagination, but there were Something that is right: the so-called "vehicles with brains" .People, when getting into their cars, had no more to say fate out loud and the vehicles could guide us instantly. Is Isaac Asimov perhaps with GPS?

4.World population
Asimov predicted that in 2014 the world population on our planet would be 6,500,000,000 people.A population disaster where birth measures would have to be established. Almost-almost... The world's population is about to reach 7,200,000,000...

5.Work
In 2014, education would have to take a turn according to new needs.Manual or mechanical work will disappear, already executed by machines and not by men. That is why children would have to be instructed in computer science.Only computer science and some arithmetic. In the words of Isaa himself c Asimov: "The most glorious word in the dictionary will be 'work'" in a society of "forced leisure".

7.The worst human disease? Boredom
What do you think about it? For this science fiction author, the man of 2014 will live in a state of boredom due to a society based on technology, an artificial reality that defines and sustains him.People, according to him, will suffer emotional and psychological problems due to this dependence...
What do you think about Isaac Asimov's predictions?
