Surely you've ever seen any dog that is missing a leg or two .It's something that happens, but that makes a little more complicated life .What happens if a dog loses both front legs? How can I walk and run then? This is what happened to Derby, would you like to know its history?
The history of Derby
Derby is a dog of the breed husky that was born with a congenital malformation on its two front legs .These did not develop normally, which prevented Derby from moving easily. greatly reduced the physical activity of Derby who was confined in enclosed spaces and soft and not aggressive surfaces. Playing outside like the other dogs was something I could only imagine.

Due to this malformation, Derby's owners decided to leave him in an animal shelter .They didn't want a disabled dog! It would be a great burden.
But Derby's life did not improve then. His legs were constantly injured and his stay in the shelter was nearing completion.Nobody wanted Derby! It was here that they began to think about the possibility of sacrificing it .
Without losing hope
It was Tara Anderson , a worker In the company 3D Systems who was interested in Derby.Without further delay, he adopted this little one in the hope of being able to give a better life .

Lo Tara first did was to put a two-wheeled cart so Derby could move. It's true that he could run, walk and move much more than before.Derby was happy! But the solution was not perfect. Mobility was reduced .Derby could not play ball or with other dogs.I had to get something much better.
3D printed legs
Tara decided to seek help in her workplace.Asking the experts in her area and with the help of a expert orthopedist in dogs, Derrick Campana , the idea of designing 3D printed legs .

The idea was a authentic success .The printed legs fit perfectly without causing balance problems.Besides, Derby could already move on almost any surface. As soon as Derby tried his new legs, he started running! He could play like the other dogs, he could jump, now there were no limits!
Currently, The 3D Systems company continues to study and improve new models of printed legs that allow a better grip and comfort for all dogs that, like Derby, have seen their life truncated.
Now Derby is happy with his new owners, Sherri and Dom Portanova , and his printed legs that allow him to enjoy life like the other dogs.Tell us what you think about this emotional history.Because all dogs deserve a chance!
