Wenceslao and the Mexican Revolution
This story has its roots in the most convulsive time of Mexican Revolution .Wenceslao lived in Halacho, in the Yucatan Peninsula , and like many other young people he had enlisted feeling the need to join the rebel troops to face the federal forces. Most were very young boys, still teenagers who, despite their energetic spirit and their desire for freedom, could little do to stop the unstoppable progress of the national army, which in that year of 1915, came to triple in number.
The consequences? Authentic blood baths. It was on March 16 when a great battalion of young rebels lost their lives, those who managed to flee were quickly arrested and subsequently tried, a trial that lasted only half an hour and where everyone was sentenced to death. And that was where the protagonist of this story was, Wenceslao Moguel Herrera.
The day of the shooting and resurrection
According to the same explanation, he I include him in what was the last firing squad of the day.His life came to an end and I accept it with a mixture of rage and disappointment, maybe like the rest of those compatriots who like him, fought and they died for their country.Their battle was lost, but without a doubt, there would be more and with long-awaited victories.Wenceslao heard the order to shoot and like his companions, they were falling before the impact of the bullets, the smoke and the blood. In some sources it is cited that there were eight shots that Wenceslas received, in others it is explained that in reality there were three : one on the right side, without touching vital organs, another on his arm on the same side and the last on the left thigh.
But there was still the coup de grace , that with which the executor makes sure to start the last breath of life of the dying man with an "apparent" act of mercy. In the case of our protagonist it was not so, because it was clear that this young man had to live, that he had to hold on to life in a miracle never seen before. The shot went into the jaw, leaving him on the other side of the face. The executor did not aim well at the temple, where it was usual to direct the weapon, so without receiving any shot in an organ vital, Wenceslao passed out believing he was already torn off and taken to hell itself.
The army did not stop to bury the bodies, went to another region and left the corpses there for the dawn to find. When the young man opened his eyes he had to take off the bodies of his companions, convinced that that was really hell.
He advanced as well as he could, containing the pain of his wounds and that face, practically shattered.Until he reached the house of a woman who treated him immediately for medical help.He recovered., of course he did, his wounds healed, his spirit regained strength despite the fact that the mirror returned the image of a disfigured face .But that did not prevent him from forming a family and letting fame and recognition will find him in the mid-thirties.He was Robert L.Ripley, a famous radio character, who was interested in him and invited him to travel to his museum of curious facts and surprising, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Alli Wenceslao Moguel, better known as "The shot of Halacho" told his incredible story, coming to travel even by several populations to testify to their story.Of those inconceivable things so common in the human race.
