New research suggests that people who have a high number of narcissistic personality traits tend to strategically induce jealousy in their partners as a way to meet certain objectives, such as obtaining control, in some cases, or to increase your self-esteem.
The study was conducted by Dr.Gregory Tortoriello, a psychologist at the University of Alabama. In his research, Tortoriello points out that, like the rest of the people, Narcissists pursue goals, but they have discovered that it is a degree "a little higher" than other people.
Psychological research suggests that narcissistic personalities fall into two categories. The first is great narcissism, marked by a sense of law, extroversion and high self-esteem .Great narcissists are very sure of themselves, explains the specialist.
The second category is vulnerable narcissism, which describes people who have the same sense of law and are willing to exploit people to get what they want. But vulnerable narcissists have an "inherent fragility" and as Tortoriello describes, they are insecure and have low self-esteem.

To investigate more about the subject, the specialists asked 237 university students to fill out questionnaires about their personality traits , behaviors that induce jealousy and the reasons for those behaviors. They found that the more narcissistic the person was, the more likely they were of trying to make your romantic partners jealous.
The reasons why people fall into this type of behavior varies according to the type of narcissism , without However, great narcissists said they were motivated by their desire to gain power and control within the relationship.Vulnerable narcissists, on the other hand, tried to jealous for multiple reasons.Control was one, as well as to prove the strength of the relationship, seek security in the relationship, compensate for low self-esteem and demand revenge for what they perceived as the bad behavior of their partner.
