What is the favorite music of dogs. A study has the answer

Have you thought about which dogs favorite music is, if they have preferences? Neither do we, but the Scots do, as revealed by a study conducted by the University of Glasgow in conjunction with the Animal Welfare Association of Scotland (SPCA).

What is the favorite music of dogs.A study has the answer

The University of Glasgow and the SPCA conducted a study on the effect of different musical genres, and music in general, on the behavior of dogs.they subjected a group of dogs of different races to five types of music: classical, reggae, Motown, pop and soft rock, and monitored their behavior, stress levels, heart rate and other changes in their physiology.

The first result was that in general they spend more time relaxing and lying down when they listen to any kind of music than when there is silence or just ambient noise. And the next conclusion is that the favorite music of the dogs seemed to be between soft rock and reggae .

In a statement, Professor Neil Evans , from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, highlighted:

«In general, the response to different genres was mixed, highlighting the possibility that, like humans, our canine friends have their own individual musical preferences».

Already in 2015 the SPCA had carried out a study on the effect of classical music on the behavior of dogs housed in shelters , but with this study they were able to determine that canine tastes are more contemporary.

According to Gilly Mendes Ferreira , of the Animal Welfare Association, the information resulting from this study will be applied in the different centers and shelters for dogs existing in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as a way to make your stay in these centers less traumatic. You may also have studies on the p musical references of cats and other pets that are going to give these centers.

What is the favorite music of dogs. A study has the answer

The SPCA is investing in sound systems for its kennels and, according to Gilly Mendes Ferreira, " in the future each center can offer our friends four-legged list of approved canine reproduction ”.

Just as there are those who care about the favorite music of dogs, there are those interested in the musical tastes of cats, such as cellist David Teie , from the National Symphony Orchestra of the United States, which has dedicated himself to composing music for these cats, with a remarkable success of sales through the internet (he has sold more than 10,000 copies of his album with special music for cats!).

And your pet, what kind of music do you prefer? If it's a cat, find out if he likes these melodies.
