In Science Daily Online we have talked about many strange and dangerous animals, but in this post we present an animal that lives in the sea and is somewhat unique, surely you have heard little or nothing about it.lose!
What can be that furry, bright and chilling animal that lives at the bottom of the sea?
It's a pyrosome , a slippery creature , which impresses and you have hardly seen in real life.According to scientists, pyrosomes are like unicorns, utopian and mysterious animals , although in reality it is a colony formed by thousands of individuals called zooides , who work at the same time to move the colony through the water.
Normally, it has an elongated physiognomy for a pack of thousands of organizations that are able to clone themselves and enter the colony .These members are connected physically , forming a kind of large-scale thimble with an end at one end and an opening at the other. On occasions, it can reach the width of 2 meters, enough for you to transport yourself inside the entire Bottom of the sea.Regarding the length , the maximum found in these beings has been 18 meters .
Something that catches the attention of the pyrosome, is that it is bioluminescent , each organism of the animal can emit light and when one of the individuals does it, the others copy it.The same happens with the other colonies, which when seeing the neighbors on, begin to illuminate.
The pyrosomes s e feed plankton by water filtration and then release it from the inside through the colony opening with the collaboration of the strength of each zooide.Yes, that both in food and in its coupling, these individuals are perfectly integrated .
More than one, the idea of encountering a pyrosome will be terrified , but in reality, they are harmless beings. As they feed on plankton, they have neither teeth nor tentacles, so we should not fear them.In the same way as other sea animals, they are filtering animals and do not need prey to feed.
Here is a video where you can see perfectly the strange shape of this marine animal:
