Would you believe that a person can "see" without eyes? Do you think you could move and locate yourself without the sense of sight? Then, in Science Daily Online we present a really amazing case.Don't miss it!
Daniel Kish , who lost both of his eyes when he was sick with cancer when he was little, has become a famous character for being able to use his echolocation capacity and be able to locate himself perfectly thanks to the echo and his traveling companion, his brain that really makes him see.
Daniel Kish and his echolocation
Truly, our brain is responsible for transforming the signals it receives from sight , so we can consider it an interpretation of each one.the data to create those internal images.
Kish’s echolocation capability works when he bumps his tongue against the roof of his mouth and uses the echo he hears to produce a representation of the sound that surrounds his world. Best of all, nobody teaches him to do this, he has always h I miss since he went blind.
According to our protagonist: "most blind people can move easily and confidently..." "if our culture admits the ability of blind people to see, then people will open up more to the world.”
A neuroscientist at Durham University, Lore Thaler, was responsible for seeing how Kish’s echolocation capacity works, such that I observe how the visual cortex of his brain was able to see different objects and position them in space when Kish clicked his tongue.
Many people are surprised by the ability that Kish has the ability to ride a bicycle without observing traffic, simply by sensing the distances and locations of elements with sound and echo.Something he teaches in his organization World Access for the Blind , especially Children as they learn more easily.
I leave you with a video to give you an idea of how Kish is driven by “his world”.
